Musings on birthdays

Today is the 17th of September. It's my aunt Julie's birthday. I am going to give her a call today.

I'm sure this all sounds pretty mundane, but I've never really done anything like this before. I haven't really considered birthdays important for a while; after your tenth one they seem to lose their luster. And if I don't consider my own birthday important, why should I consider any other birthday important?

But guess what? Not everybody thinks the same way I do. (shock, horror!) Lesson learnt this year: treat people in the way they would want to be treated, not the way in which you would want to be treated if you were in their position.

Birthdays are important to a lot of people not named Darren Ong. Which means I should start remembering them.

I should start with remembering my dad's. I don't even know what month it's in.
